September 2026 · Issue #5

Spring doesn’t ease in around here.

Spring on the Redlands Coast doesn’t ease in — it arrives all at once. One week you’re pulling the jumper on for the morning walk, the next there are seven events on the calendar and you’re trying to work out how to fit them all in. Here’s my guide to September, in date order, so you don’t have to.

Thursday 4 September — Shoreline Street Food Markets, Redland Bay. A night market done properly: food trucks, bespoke stalls, live music. Take the family, eat dinner standing up, argue about which truck was best on the drive home.
Saturday 5 September — IndigiScapes Eco Markets, Capalaba, 8am–noon. More than 50 stalls, live music in the gardens, a native plant nursery, workshops and a full slate of kids’ activities. It’s Father’s Day eve, so it’s an easy one to build the weekend around. Free entry.
Saturday 5 September — Coochiemudlo Art Trail & Open Studios. Local artists across the island open their doors. Catch the ferry, take your time, come home with something original.
Saturday 12 September — two islands, two festivals. The Quandamooka Festival on North Stradbroke Island is a genuine privilege to have on our doorstep — a multi-artform celebration of continuing Quandamooka culture. The same day, Russell Island hosts the Bay Islands Multicultural Festival. Both worth the boat ride.
18–20 September — Cleveland Caravan, Camping, Boating & 4x4 Expo, Redland Showgrounds. If you’ve been circling a camper trailer or a tinnie all winter, this is where you kick the tyres.
26–27 September — RedFest, Cleveland Showgrounds. The big one. The Redlands’ longest-running community festival turns 68 this year, with live music across multiple stages from 2pm daily, headline act Harlan, rides, an animal farm and the full showground experience. Local schools, clubs and charities are at the heart of it — which is exactly why it’s lasted 68 years.

That’s the month. If you’ve got friends or family who’ve just moved to the area — or are thinking about it — forward this on. Nothing sells the Redlands lifestyle like September does.

And if that lifestyle has you thinking about where you want to be living this time next year, you know where to find me.
