Good news around the Redlands this October
Every week brings a fresh round of national property news. Here’s what’s been happening closer to home — the projects and events that make the Redlands a better place to live.
A treetop playground for IndigiScapes
Construction started on Tuesday 6 October on a new all-abilities playground at IndigiScapes in Capalaba. The centrepiece is a climbing tower inspired by a Tallowwood tree, where kids can climb up to a tree-top nest and slide back down. There’s also a flying fox, basket swing, water play, sandpit, embankment slide, hammock, rock scramble, a toddler cubby and a blue tongue lizard sculpture, plus a new accessible path from the car park.
It’s the first stage of the 14.5-hectare Redlands Coast Eco Precinct, which will bring together IndigiScapes, Myhorizon and a new RSPCA Wildlife Hospital. The playground is due mid-2027. The existing playground and some nearby paths are closed while work is under way.
An Enchanted Christmas Garden
New this year, the botanic gardens at IndigiScapes will be turned into an Enchanted Christmas Garden from Monday 30 November to Sunday 20 December: arches and tunnels of fairy lights, festive soundscapes, snow and smoke machines, electric fireflies, butterflies and reindeer. Tickets are $5 to $10 through redland.qld.gov.au/Christmas. The Christmas tree lighting is on 27–28 November.

Know a local legend?
Nominations are open for the Redlands Coast Australia Day awards. If someone in your street or club quietly makes the Redlands better, this is the chance to say thanks.
Young people shaping the skate parks
Council is asking young people what they want from the city’s skate parks, kicking off with a free community event. It’s good to see the next generation getting a say in the spaces they’ll actually use.
RPAC goes national
The redeveloped RPAC forecourt in Cleveland, already named Queensland’s Community Based Initiative of the Year, will now compete at the Parks & Leisure Australia national awards in December.

Why this matters
Playgrounds, parks and community events don’t move prices on their own. But they’re part of why families choose the Redlands — and why so many who move here stay.
